This can include flammable gases, vapors or dust particles that mix with air and can ignite under certain conditions. <\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Classification is based on the probability and duration that such an explosive atmosphere is present. For gas, the following apply: <\/p><ul class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__ul\"><li class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem\" value=\"1\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Zone 0<\/strong><\/b>: continuous or prolonged presence<\/li><li class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem\" value=\"2\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Zone 1<\/strong><\/b>: regularly present during normal operation<\/li><li class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem\" value=\"3\"><b><strong class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__textBold\">Zone 2<\/strong><\/b>: occasional and short-term only<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Similar zones are used for dust (zone 20, 21 and 22).<\/p><p class=\"PlaygroundEditorTheme__paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">This zone classification forms the basis for all further choices around equipment, installation and safety measures. The applicable ATEX guidelines and standards, such as IEC 60079 and NPR 7910, determine which solutions are and are not allowed within these zones.
